WELCOME TO REITORAL DE CHANDREXA

The house of the priest is now a family residence and a casa rural. We dedicate also to ecological agriculture (agrotourism). We have a vegetable garden, vineyard, chestnut trees, orchards and animals so that we can share with you our bread, wine and food that taste like both the ancient and modern knowledge, and the respect and love for the land and the people.

Located in the Ribeira Sacra, in the Canyon of Sil in a small village 5km from the Parada de Sil. In Rectoral of Chandrexa we believe in sustainable tourism that gives the travellers a unique destination and economic strength to local people.

With these criteria and always ensuring the highest quality, we offer traditional or vegetarian menus prepared with the clearly seasonal raw materials of the area (mostly produced at the house).

Pork (we have Celtic pigs) and traditionally dried chestnuts are prevailing in winter. Salads, vegetable creams and mushrooms in spring. In summer, the garden gives us all its variety, and besides the tomatoes are still in time to taste the organic beef or lamb.

For vegetarians we’ll always have an alternative dish. All the vegetables we serve are organically cultivated in our own garden. If any ingredient occasionally comes from conventional agriculture, we’ll let you know. Cereals, pasta, flour and sugar are also organically cultivated. The water is spring water. The bread of the house is made with stone ground wheat and rye flours (also organically cultivated). The bran is extracted partially. We mix the dough with yeast (sourdough), salt and spring water. It is baked in traditional firewood oven. We make our wine using the organically cultivated grapes (Xerez, Garnacha, Mencia and Brancellao) from Rabacallos (since 2003).

As to meat we dedicate to breed Celtic pigs. We continue offering lamb, as our ecological sheep farm is not very far away. The organic beef is from Montederramo. The cow milk cheese comes from an organic farm from Palas de Rei. Creamy and cured D.O. Arzua-Ulloa. The sheep milk cheese, although not organic, is local artisan high quality product.
